Tubo Cane Juice

Sugarcane is a form of grass. Most of it grow in Asian countries. Apart from being the source of sugar, the juice of sugarcane is healthy and is loaded with a range of essential nutrients.

Tubo is the local term of Sugarcane in the Philippines. It is also a new brand name of beverage that is hoping to allure the taste buds of the Filipinos.

Hereunder are some of the benefits one will get from drinking pure sugarcane:

  • It is low in glycemic index, making it helpful in keeping the body fit and healthy
  • Being alkaline in nature, sugarcane juice helps the body in fighting against cancer, especially prostate and breast cancer.
  • It is also good for digestion, as it can effectively work as a mild laxative because of its high potassium content.
  • It provides glucose to the body, which is stored as glycogen and burned by the muscles, whenever they require energy. Therefore, it is considered to be one of the best sources of energy.

Tubo processes fresh sugarcanes the same way it is processed in farms. After the stout, jointed stalks are cut into shorter pieces, it goes through a special machine that flattens and squeezes the juices out.

This is the inside look of the machine. It has 3 tubes assembled very near to each other.

Tubo offers varied flavors and sizes of containers.

Here we have Lemonsito Flavor

A few spoons of grated ice and some powder was placed inside the plastic container. It was then added with Lemon flavoring. After which, the juice of the sugarcane was poured unto the mixture. The container went through a machine that technically covered the top with plastic.

I believe that it is understandable that the formula is sticky. It really is. Expectations weren't achieved. Think about the plain taste of water -only a bit sweeter and a bit sticky. Tubo Lemonsito Flavor tastes like that.

This drink could have been better if they didn't added any flavoring. Not only did the taste change but the health benefits were lessen.
