Harolds Hotel's H-Cafe serves international cuisine for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It is the main restaurant for hotel guests and passers-by.
Breakfast is open everyday from 6 - 10am for only Php300.00 per head. Lunch opens at 11am to 2pm while dinner opens at 6 - 10pm. Lunch & Dinner buffet opens only on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays for only Php450 per head.
The first dish served to us was H Cafe's best-seller, Beef Steak Cebuano. It is the Visayan version of Bistek Tagalog with some twists- tenderloin medallion and bagoong (salted fish paste) was incorporated in the dish.
The beef was marinated in soy sauce, calamansi, black pepper and onions. It was then cooked with garlic, tomatoes, sweet potatoes, pechay, carmelized onions and steamed Bok Choy.
The taste was gratifying. You can tell that the beef tenderloin has gone through a lot of processes because it was full of garnishing and flavors. The sauce made the onions, tomatoes and carmelized pechay taste so good.
The second dish served to us was Fish Escabetche. It is Garupa fish cooked with carrots, ginger, green and red bell pepper and spring onions. Shrimp okoy (shrimp fritter) and mashed sweet potato was served at the side that acted as a palate cleanser and a good alternative for rice.
The presentation was excellent! It showcased so many colors which made the dish look very attractive.
The look of the dish explained the way it actually tasted. It was zesty.
The fish was so tender and by staring at the colors of the vegetables, you, yourself can tell all was fresh.
A good dish to try out.
