Good Breakfasts at Taman Sari

How would you define a good breakfast? Well, for me, the food has to be delicious, the place has to be comfortable and most importantly, I have to be served well by the staff. These three are just a few of the hallmarks that Taman Sari Restaurant of Hotel Istana possess.

The place is always almost full during mornings. I wouldn't be surprised if people would tag it as one of the must-try buffet restaurants in Kuala Lumpur.

TheAtrium Cafe and Lounge: A Gastronomical Tour Around Asia

Both picky and adventurous eaters will find the food of their desires at TheAtrium. It's a place where iconic Asian dishes are served.

The Atrium is not the kind of place you would visit for setting and presentation, but the place for food variation. It does not look cluttered, but the place could look a little messy once the crowd comes in.

A Delightful Dinner at Azur Putrajaya Shangri-La

I’m saying it now. The dinner I had at Putrajaya Shangri-La was absolutely delicious—so much I wanted another round.

Exhausted by the day’s activities, I asked myself for nothing more than to retreat to my room in Hotel Istana. But I felt invigorated the moment our tour guide mentioned our bus was heading to Putrajaya Shangri-La. I knew that we were going to eat dinner at Putrajaya—I did not know it’s a Shangri-La.

Merry Christmas Everybody!

Christmas Season is the most wonderful time of the year. It is traditionally celebrated with the people we love and so I'm wondering why the heck you're reading this thing. You're not supposed to be online right now.

What I'm saying is, you go online for many hours a day. Christmas is only one time so go ahead, leave your devices, be with your family or friends. Enjoy the moment. Let the good times happen and sink in you. Update your social media accounts next day.

Knowing an unfamiliar culture is a challenge every traveler faces. There are many ways to crush the ignorance but the best way would be trying out their dish. This is also the reason why I enjoy tasting various cuisines to get to know people- their lifestyle, capabilities and goals.

Malaysia, a vibrant destination with a diverse cultures and traditions is the first ever foreign country I've visited. The wide variety of cooking styles and cultural influences make its food simply unique.

Malaysia, Here I Come!

Hours from now, I'll be having my first out-of-the-country trip. I'm going to Malaysia along with bloggers and media agents to experience the maiden flight of AirAsia Zest Philippines-Malaysia network route and discover the country through the itinerary prepared by the Tourism of Malaysia for the next three days.

I've heard so many people rave about Malaysia and I can't wait to see what it really has to offer - to get a taste of that first-hand experience myself. At the moment, I know nothing more about Malaysia except for the fact that it’s part of Asia; there’s this talked-about building called Petronas which will take almost four hours to travel by plane.  I won’t do much research after this post. I want to discover Malaysia only when I get there. So Malaysia, surprise me!

Seattle's Best Coffee 2014 Dream Journal

It's that time of the year again when people flock to their favorite coffee shops more often than they do to collect stickers and redeem limited edition planners and journals.

What's so special about these writing materials, anyway? While stupefied people continue covering their ears and rant the impracticality of collecting stickers for a free writing material, let me tell you why some people do so.

Golden Cowrie's Fried Scallops, Taba ng Talangka, Adobong Talong, Ngohiong, Sinigang Baby Prawns, Fried Baby Squid Con Tinta, Crispy Pata, Fried Liempo and Grilled Pork Belly

Eating, for a food blogger like me, has turned out to be such a perilous act. To pass a week without missing to eat something either new, instant, or international has become a necessity.

I did not understand why I perceive it as a saddening matter. Last week, I realized why: I miss Filipino food. This is absolutely the reason why I was so thrilled to have dinner with friends at Golden Cowrie the other night.

I'm Back in the Scene!

Hey everyone! As you can see, FoodieCraft has been quite outdated for the last two months. Blame school. Haha! I had so many things going on the past two months.
Have I told you I have problems in setting priorities? LOL
I have been receiving so many event invitations (mostly food-oriented) and I have been declining all of them to give way to my responsibilities in school. Being a third year college student is not easy , especially when you're enrolled in a school run by strict nuns.

Father's Day 2013

Rarely do we recognize the efforts of a father's role in the family. Probably because his work is not as transparent as our mothers.

While we see pictures of exhaustion and motivation in our mothers at home, we tend to forget how similar it is to our fathers. Though not seen, fathers work hard enough for us to sustain a family well-breed, supplied with ample wants and needs.

Most of us get blinded that the money we use for purchasing those trending dresses and shoes, latest gadgets and what not tracks from the labor of our fathers.

The world has set a date to annually show appreciation our fathers are worth-receiving for. And for the year 2013, that is today.

From me to all the father's in the world, Happy Father's Day!
And for my one and only Papa Michael, the banner up there is only for you!

Ronaldo's House Bread, Rice, Special Pasta, Braised Beef Belly, Half Roast Chicken, Cebollitas Soup, Cedar Planked Salmon and Ronaldo's Choice Pizza

Creativity and application is one of the most crucial things to do when you are in the kitchen. This is most excruciating especially when people who pay for your food and service judge this output of creativity and application.

Ronaldo's is the only restaurant that I can relate to sincere creativity and application. It tags itself as the "Inspirational Cuisine of Davao". With that in mind, I was expecting something different and good.

Lachi's Sans Rival ATBP is a dessert shop that used to exclusively sell homemade cakes. It eventually added meal sets to its menu.

Lotus Court's Roast Suckling Pig, Radish, Pan-Fried Turnip Patties, Yin Yang Two-Way Style Steamed, Siomai, Sauteed Diced Beef Fillet, Chocolate Buchi and Diced Chicken Fried Rice

Why do people like Cantonese Cuisine? The reason can be traced in our Filipino roots back when we were colonized by the Chinese. This influence explains well for the older fellows but how about the younger ones like me?

Allow me to explain on behalf of a part of the youth. I like Cantonese dining because it emphasizes the preservation of the flavors of its ingredients. More so, the type of cooking is very inventive- in many cases, it incorporates non-native ingredients. Thus, making the taste of the dishes accommodating with the fast-changing taste preference of the young generation.

Highlands to Islands: Tour Davao the Marco Polo Way

A couple weeks ago, I received an email from Marco Polo Plaza Cebu, inviting me to spend four of my summer days at Marco Polo Davao and try out what Davao prides itself in the food industry.

A week ago, the special event came to a close. I had a great time- all the people I've met, the places I've visited and activities that I did were a blast. I am surprised with the abundance of restaurants  diners, cafes and shops Davao has. Up to this day, I feel ecstatic with the wonderful things I've experienced throughout the tour.

Free Amazing Aloha Hamburgers

A total of three thousand five hundred Amazing Aloha hamburgers will be given away to Jollibee customers for free tomorrow as a grand welcome of the classic comfort food back to the menu in the Philippines.

How can you claim your free hamburger? Simple! All you have to do is ask a stub from any of the selected thirty-five Jollibee branches mentioned below at two-thirty in the afternoon. Use the stub to redeem your Aloha starting three-o'clock in the afternoon and beyond.

Jollibee's Amazing Aloha is Back

Weeks after food expert Anthony Bourdain featured Jollibee's Amazing Aloha in his show 'Parts Unknown', burger aficionados in the Philippines started making online petitions for Jollibee to bring back the dish that was gone in the country's menu for four years.

This noise in various social media platforms spread like wildfire- reaching the doors of Jollibee's executives. After much thought, they have decided to address this hanker for burgers as a thanksgiving treat and celebration of its thirty five years of existence in the country.

Baker's Mill Cinnamon Otap

Whenever I visit or stay in hotel rooms, I always do a short inspection of what's on the desk and what's inside the fridge. Normally, I would see chocolates, protein drinks and Korean noodles. This time, I saw something different.

In a recent staycation, (a little play on words right there. My term for staying in a nearby hotel for a simple vacation) I found a product new to my eyes.
