Japengo Japanese Restaurant's Yakimeshi, Chicken Yakitore, Spare Ribs, Atsuyaki Tofu Teppanyaki, Ika Teriyaki, Special Sashimi and Liver Nera Itame

When on the look for a red and white house serving good Japanese dish that's reasonably priced, it has to be Japengo Modern Japanese Cuisine.

While many Japanese diners open left and right, it's uneasy to point which ones offer good-tasting at the same time affordable dishes. Japengo is one considerable place to visit to satisfy the oriental craving.

The interior is small but sure to fit one-way walks. It's nicely decorated with paintings and wood furniture. It has that Japanese plus modern kind of fill.

I made a quick visit at Japengo Japanese Restaurant and did a sampling of some of their best-sellers.

Their Yakimeshi tasted okay.

As much as the presentation suggests (many ingredients crowning the rice) the dish does not explode with flavors.

Their Chicken Yakitore cannot be compared to your ordinary chicken on a stick.

The chicken meat was so yummy. It tasted sweet, thanks to the sauce.

There's nothing so special with their Spare Ribs.

It's like the common ones out in the market trying to be at par with the list-topper (if you know what I'm trying to say). Presentation-wise, dish is passable, talk about taste, you can find one better only of higher price than this.

Their Atsuyaki Tofu Teppanyaki tastes good.

Again, all praises go to the sauce. However, the Tofu was cooked well. I just didn't see a point where it made me like it more than usual Tofu sold in other restaurants.

Their Ika Teriyaki is fine.

Unlike most restaurants serving squid, this one is really easy to cut and chew. The condiments somehow were infused into the squid that made it taste uniquely good.

The Special Sashimi deserved to be served twice.

The cuts were fresh and clean. Delicious. This dish is like one of those served at fancy food-places, only that it's way cheaper.

I finished off with the Liver Nera Itame and it was a good choice.

Though there was nothing special, it had a mellow, sweet taste.

All dishes were nicely presented. I found nothing striking from the tastes. I guess the restaurant prefers to stay at the safe side with all the food-places joining the competition.

Japengo Modern Japanese Cuisine is open everyday from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm. It is located at Robinsons Cybergate, Don Gil Garcia Street, Capitol Site, Cebu City. For inquiries or reservations, call 505-9410.
