Relaxation in a city is difficult to find except when you are in Davao. An ideal hideaway to relax and chill is The Deck.
The Deck is a haven for ultimate pampering and wellness. It features Polo Bistro, Pool Lounge, Lazuli Spa, Fitness Center and many others.
Lounge music, gourmet dishes and cocktails make up these places that serve as the reasons why foreigners and locals alike frequent them.
Polo Bistro sits just beside the Pool Lounge. One can order dishes at Polo Bistro and enjoy it in a cottage at the Pool Lounge.
Polo Bistro is a rectangular restaurant built with huge glass windows. The windows give a fantastic view of the pool at the Pool Lounge.
Lights give soft tones of white- adding a cozy ambiance to the entire restaurant.
Waiting will seem nothing for time-conscious guests. Just watching the pool and its allure gives the old saying "time flies so fast when you're having fun."
These lights give a sense of warmth to night swimmers.
Polo Bistro serves intercontinental and award-winning cuisines. Steaks and seafoods matched with healthy concoctions and robust wines are the stars of the menu.
Ciabatta served as the time saver for me. It was what I was munching on while waiting for my orders.
It was the the best Ciabatta I've ever tasted so far. It was so hot, so soft, sof yummy, so chewy. I fnished about three loaves of it. It was like a meal to me already- that good!
Bourbon Flavored Corn Chowder was instant creamy corn powder sauteed with onions and then stirred with cream. This soup was served with a single breadstick.
The soup was very delicious. Its creaminess was really good. I like how the breadstick added solidity to the dish.
Garlic and Herb Shrimps Sambuca was onion sauteed with mushroom and tomatoes and a bit of wine, added with shrimp and a bit of Sambuca. This was served with a complimentary bowl of cut fruits.
It was a very delicious dish. Though there were only three ingredients, it turned out to be very flavorful. I like the fact that I didn't feel the liquor while eating. The shrimp was so tender.
Brandied Peppered Steak with Herb Roasted Potato and Grilled Asparagus was Sirloin glazed with steak lemon, worcestershire sauce and some mixed condiments. It is served with a peeled potato that was roasted with herbs and some short cuts of asparagus and broccoli.
The steak was thick but easy to cut. I can't say that it was tender enough for me but it was easy to cut. It was delicious and and made even more delicious with the sauce. The vegetable cuts were fresh and the potato was boiled just right.
A chef presented to us how he made the sauce of our steak. Flambe.
Pomelo Creme Brulee was egg yolk whisked with cream sugar then mixed with heated vanilla extract and pomelo juice. It was contained in a ramekin, baked and then refrigerated.
I didn't enjoy this dessert so much probably because I was already so full with the first few dishes ate. The only thing I'm sure of though is that this was very sweet.
Fried Ice Cream was Polo Bistro's featured dessert of the month the time when I visited the place. It was vanilla ice cream coated with egg and cookie crumble twice.
Fried ice creams are not new to me but one that is coated with egg and cookie crumble is something. Although I find the serving unique, the taste is not something worth to commend. This dessert had a sweet and a bit sour taste- not bad but not good too.
Polo Bistro is open at 11:30am to 2:30pm for lunch and 6:00 to 10:00pm for dinner and Pool Lounge is open 7:00am to 11:00pm. Both are located at the fourth level of Marco Polo Davao. For inquiries, call 255-0111 or email email@example.com.
